Windows Phone 7 update problem: It's Microsoft, not the carriers

Microsoft rolls out its first major software update to its Windows 7 Phone operating system.
With customers unhappy at the pace that Microsoft has delivered a promised Windows 7 Phone update, the software maker offers its apologies.
Microsoft had planned for Windows 7 Phone service for the first two weeks of March.
In comments posted on the Microsoft web site developer, lamented Joe Belfiore both the inertia of the update and for earlier comments that indicated that Microsoft was further along with the update than it actually was.
The delay due to technical problems with a minor update to the operating system (OS) in February, which resulted in Microsoft pulls Windows 7 Phone service on Samsung devices.

The update contains copy and paste functions and improved Marketplace search.
There are many of you who have not yet received it, and I do not blame you for speaking up and pointing out my mistakes.
It will be available in several batches, to insure that the process is as smooth as possible, Microsoft.
The update provides copy and paste functions, along with performance updates and improvements to the Market Place to buy apps.
In a blog post, said Eric Hautala, general manager of customer experience engineering at Microsoft, the update will be available for open market [units without a specific mobile operator] Phones Windows first, before being rolled out to all users.
Belfiore and others in Redmond have been talking about the update in the past tense, but many customers have yet to get it.
In the next phase of the development process, we will begin to make the update available to a wider range of customers.
Redmond has a timetable for when to expect the update in the U.S. and in international markets. The update is already on some new phones, including HTC Arrive, the first Windows 7 Phone model from Sprint. In addition to copy and paste support, the so-called NoDo update the first version of Windows phone software which supports CDMA networks such as Sprint and Verizon. AT&T is also adding to the HTC HD7S phone, which will also run the new version of the software. This is not the first stumble Microsoft has had with regard to update Windows 7 Phone. The company had to delay the deployment of a previous update after the process caused problems on some Samsung phones. The purpose of the update was just to test the update process and prepare for future updates. The copy and paste the update has been delayed a bit, until the end of March.

At Mobile World Parliament in February, Microsoft said that it would have a broader update later this year that has improved surfing, multitasking and integrated Twitter support.
Much like when you buy a PC online, you will see when the patch is tested and packaged, as it is about to send, and when it left the warehouse.
