3 Promising Windows Phone 7 'Mango' Features

I had a chance to review the HTC Arrive earlier this month, which ran on the latest Windows 7 Phone'NoDo'update.
New research shows that developers lose interest in writing applications for Windows 7 Phone.
It was the first time I had to dig deep into Microsoft's new operating system, and I was quite impressed.
Combined with a separate report showing that consumer interest is waning, too, it seems that Microsoft's phone platform is losing steam.
For those who have not tried it, Windows 7 Phone deviate heavily from the organisation behind Android and Ios.
A joint investigation between the IDC and appcelerator about developer interest smartphone platforms have bad news for Windows 7 Phone.
Unfortunately, it is far behind the competition, and Microsoft is struggling to catch up with Apple and Google.
Only 29% of developers say they are very interested in writing applications for the platform --- a decrease of 7% from a fourth ago.
Although I felt WP7 was pretty polished, it still felt like a first-generation operating system, since many features are missing.
That 29% is barely above the percentage of developers who said it would be very interested back in September, before the Windows Phone 7 was released.
To address some problems, the next major update title'Mango'aims to bring tons of accessories and a couple of notable features: The bad news? The current browser is not up to par with competitors.
This research comes as a Nielsen survey found that between January and March 2011, only 6% of consumers planning to buy a smart phone said they would buy a Windows 7 Phone unit, down from 7% in July to September 2010 time period.
It lacks support for plugins like Adobe Flash and not even follow all of the new HTML5 standards.
In other words, consumers and developers, after seeing Windows 7 Phone launched, saying, No thanks.
The good news? The forthcoming upgrade will bring Mango IE9 engine to the mobile operating system.
If Windows 7 Phone not generate developer interest, it will remain an app-starved platform --- and consumers will not buy.
This means that a page designed for a desktop browser would do the same on the small screens on mobile devices.
There was one small bright spot in the developer survey --- the developers said that the Microsoft co-operation with Nokia was the announcement that could make the greatest impact for companies to compete against Google and Apple.
Although it is not automatically an optimised experience, developers can use standard markup to make further improvements.
Yet, despite the announcement, the developers lose interest.
Since IE9 also takes advantage of hardware acceleration on mobile devices, rendering heavy sites faster than competitors.
So the Nokia agreement alone will not save Windows 7 Phone --- Microsoft is going to have to get developers on board too, or consumers will probably continue to stay away.
In one example demoed on stage, a prototype Windows phone device renders graphics at over 20 frames per second while Android ran at 11 FPS and IOS struggled in only 2 FPS.
The new browser will also let users prong Web apps to the home screen as a live tiles.
Another notable enhancement is an enhanced address bar that is now available in landscape mode.
When Windows 7 Phone first made a debut, it completely lacked the support to run two or more programs simultaneously.
Although a welcome addition, it was far from practical and the lack of an interface for the app switch forced users to go through each opened one in a chronological order by repeatedly pressing the return key. Microsoft makes things more straight forward with Mango update offering an app switcher. The interface shows screenshots of each open application and allows users to go sideways to the reader through them. In addition, this upgrade offers features such as background sound for the third-party applications. A demo shown on stage at MIX 11 was Spotify. Mango also makes it possible to play audio from a website and having it continue in the background, even if they leave the browser or open another application. Other new features include support for background alarms and other demo featured a flight tracking app that notified users when it was time to take a plane.
Playing catch up, Microsoft is putting in effort to give developers better tools to build powerful apps.
For example, apps now take advantage of the core panorama and pivot animations to feel as smooth as native ones.
Windows 7 Phone will soon allow more live tiles / app and allow developers to feed information to them in the background.
Another nice little addition opens the doors to ringtone apps for custom songs.
The Mango The update also gives developers deep access calendar and contact data for more creative applications.
To press on augmented reality (AR) apps, Microsoft offers now have access to the RAW camera data, compass, and gyroscope.
I was also excited to hear that Skype would now Windows 7 Phone device this autumn, means that we can see some hardware with front-facing cameras very soon.
Deep linking will make it possible to launch third-party programs from others is that the search results.
In addition, music + cinema Hub view a history of media played in the third-party applications such as Slacker, in addition to the native player.
Users can also attach a specific part of an application to the home as well.
For example, it will be possible to add a live tile shortcut directly to the bar code scanner function of the Amazon app for instant access.
Coming from ancient and catastrophic Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, Microsoft has made some great strides.
These updates are a great start to offer an edge over competitors that dominate, but there is not enough yet.
According to some rumors, Nokia will release its first Windows 7 Phone device when this major update is available.
This can give them a much required boost with top notch hardware, but Microsoft still has much work to do when it comes to other issues such as drawing in developers to build more apps.

Nokia tablet to take 'unique perspective' on iPad rival

Nokia's transition of Symbian to Windows 7 Phone spelt not only a massive job cut of 7,000 employees worldwide, but also the closure of its research and development site in White Plains, New York with a certain, the expected flux in employment in the rest of the their R & D sites worldwide.
Largely as predicted, Nokia has announced 4000 jobs are being axed and a further 3000 put out by the end of 2012 as the Finnish company looks to restructure its business ready for Windows Phone 7.The restrictions, which will see the roles with a focus on older software for Symbian shift to consultants firm Accenture, will affect 12 percent of its phone unit workforce. Reports suggest Nokia is looking to cut € 1000000000 (1.46 billion U.S. dollars) from its costs. Clarity and cut-back nokia confirmed that most of the cuts will be made to its workforce in Denmark, Finland and the UK. At Nokia, we have new clarity about our way forward, which is focused on our leadership across smart devices, mobile phones and future disturbances, said Nokia CEO Stephen Elop said in a statement. But with this new focus, we will face reductions in the workforce.
This is all part of the effort they must take to prepare for the exclusive use of the Windows Phone 7 on all Nokia phones.
Down with the R&DThe move is billed as a response to what outsiders have long gone as excessive research and development, mainly as a result of Nokia's leading role in Symbian.
The complete change over is expected to take years as they phase out of the Symbian handset.
By handing control over to Accenture, the firm will be able to concentrate its operations on Windows 7 Phone, maintained itself and is run by Microsoft.
Walked out on the smartphone hype that gripped rivals to take the opportunity and capitalized on it, Nokia is trying to stage a comeback with chalking up a partnership agreement with Microsoft that finally ended last week.
Nokia's R & D costs will autumn as a result, but so will the number of jobs in the sector.
Nokia has a single digit market share in the USA and has been on a decline for the past few years.
Nokia itself, but claims it only certain areas of R&D will be cut back, adding that other sites will actually \expand \\ u0026quot;.
A battle with Finland that contains an 8% unemployment, Nokia has also made a deal with outsourcer Accenture to take over the development and future support for Symbian, including providing employment for 3,000 of those laid off, most of whom had worked with Symbian.
We offer those who lose their jobs a number of options, from individual re-employment support and re-training to make investments to promote innovation and works with many partners to create new opportunities, Elop ended.
Accenture says that 3,000 employees will work on Symbian for some time, before being retrained and redeployed.
[Source: Nokia].
Investors applaud Nokia's efforts to transfer some of the workers, a procedure that will cost the company less than a flat-out layoff that require paying out severance packages.
Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has admitted that it was a difficult decision, to be officialized when the company is finished talks with labour representatives.
The rest of the 4,000 workers are to remain on their salary for the remainder of 2011.
How many will remain in 2012 has not been specified.
The job cuts, representing about 12% of its total phone unit workforce is seen to save the Company 1 billion euros (1400 million USD) at the end of 2012 together with the Microsoft agreement.
The latest layoffs are not the biggest set of Nokia, the company known for cutting out 9,000 of its employees when they began their telecommunications Nokia Siemens Network.

In exchange, Microsoft will provide search services to Nokia Bing Device portfolio, in addition to its own expertise in other areas, such as asgaming and advertising.
App submissions have doubled in that time and many big-name companies have committed to WP7 apps for the ecosystem.

For now, however, the Windows phone probably only capture about 5.5 percent of the market this year, according to IDC.

UNO HD Offered as Windows Phone 7 'Deal of the Week'

I was planning to wait for the Mango was released before I downloaded Microsoft phone tools.
Windows 7 Phone App Roundup April 19 2011File Under: NewsBy: Daniel Webster | 9:12 p.m.
Two things changed my mind, Mix 2011, and this book.
19-Apr-11 | Comments In this episode of Windows 7 Phone App Roundup we demonstrate five applications of 30 seconds each.
When I saw this book coming out I pre-ordered it immediately.
These apps will entertain, help you take better pictures, and capture the would be burglar.
The author calls his book unconventional.
To download these programs directly to your WP7 device, just click on the title of the application and the Zune software will automatically launch the app in the Market Place.
The question I had was this will be unconventional in a good way or a bad way.
If you have free Microsoft Tag program installed on your WP7 smartphone simply snap a picture of the tag image and Mobile Marketplace will navigate to the app burglar alarm A free applicationBurglar Alarm is a simple app that will prevent a thief from running off of with your smartphone.
I am happy to report the book is unconventionally awesome! The book is divided into eight parts.
The app works directly with standard WP7 lock screen.
1 - Getting Started, 2 - Transforms&Animations, 3 - Storage and retrieval of local data, 4 - Pivot, Panorama, Charts, and Graphs, 5 - Audio&Video, 6 - Microphone, 7 - Touch&Multi-Touch, 8 - accelerometer tricks, and then 5 handy attachment that contains a XAML Reference Resources Reference Theme, Animation Easing Reference, and a geometry Reference.
If someone picks up the Windows 7 Phone smart phone alarm sounds.
The book is designed to be read from front to back.
The included tools ranging from a calculator into a seismometer
The author builds on themes he goes, but it also makes a great reference.
.
Each chapter is a program that teaches a subject.
It is even more integration in the Bing Maps GPS Tool
Appendix A, there are lessons index arranged by subject, and refers to chapters that covers it. For example, the Background Worker is listed as covered in Chapters 11, 24 and 25 Throughout the book there are sidebars that answer questions, dig deeper, offer tips, and give warnings. There is no filler / fluff in this book that is not true for many books these days, especially since the 1130 books! Each chapter covers and shows the XAML and code behind. It makes it possible to read the book without having a computer code nearby. I still do not have a Windows phone (I'm writing this review in OneNote for iPhone). The author points out the inconvenience during development. Not being able to test on a real phone can really come back to bit you if you are deployed to the Windows Phone Market Place. Although he points out where to get one for development purposes (without a voice or data plan) are $ 500.00. It is not going to fly.

There are many maps available for the full version

The author has a great writing style

.
I have not put the book down since it came
There are some obstacles that will come in the way so be careful
.
.
The one problem you have is that many of the programs are simply fun to play, so you may find yourself getting side tracked

I've been bugging my dog \u200b\u200bwith the talking parrot the sounds and played darts much
.
This is without doubt the most fun I've had to read a book a long time! With Mango just around the corner, now is the time to get up to speed on Windows Phone
.
This book makes it fun to learn the platform
.
All in all, if you're interested in Windows phone development at all, this book is a must! It will definitely be a classic. This is one of the best programming books I own, and I own many of them

Windows Phone 7 Now On Par With webOS

Good \\ u200b \\ u200bnyheter for WP7, bad news for Palm. Both smart phone operating systems are relatively new (we are excluding legacy Palm OS here). WebOS had some earth before WP7 was there. Our beloved Puss Research (the good old number crunching company) have found the following info: What is more interesting here is that WP7 is still not on Verizon (same carrier which constitutes over half of Android population). When WP7 will be massive for Verizon, could those numbers as well go higher. How well does the HP deal with this competition is still something we have to wait and see. Nokia To Launch Four Nokia Windows Phone 7 In Early 2012

Nokia to launch Nokia Fire Windows 7 Phone In early 2012 By Sardar Mohkim Khan, 21 April 2011, a CommentsThere has been much debate about the Nokia and Microsoft partnership, especially when Nokia will start the production of Windows 7 Phone devices.
NEW DELHI: There is much speculation about Windows 7 Phone Nokia-based smartphones.
While the exact dates are yet to be announced, revealed Mobile Review that we can expect at least 4 units in the area early 2012.Another Nokia and Microsoft have a challenge is the naming convention of the new phones.
In fact, the leaked specs sheet of the two Nokia Windows 7 Phone based phones doing the rounds online.
It will be difficult for both to modify their existing conventions to please others, but the big Nokia Windows phone devices will be able to carry a W prefix.
According to Mobile Review, Nokia is preparing two Windows 7 Phone models called Nokia W7 and W8.
This will be a link factor for Nokia phones running the Windows operating system.
Nokia X7-inspired W7 will feature a WVGA screen, QSD8250 Qualcomm chipsets, Windows phone OS 7 and 8 megapixel camera.
As per the details made available, Nokia will release the first handset in the beginning of 2012, which will be a modified version of Nokia X7.
The handset is expected to hit the market by 2011 end.
It will have an 8MP camera, a Qualcomm chipset QSD8250 and a WVGA screen.
Nokia W8, similar to the popular Nokia N8, will feature a dual core CPU and Qualcomm Adreno 320 GPU.
It will, as N8 has a 12MP camera, and also has a dual-core Qualcomm processor.
It will sport a 12 megapixel shooter.
From the specifications of the sets are mentioned, it seems that Microsoft and Nokia are both in harmony to continue to focus on camera phones.
W8 is expected to arrive in early 2012.
One interesting thing to bill here is how Nokia is being made to adopt Qualcomm processor to power its devices, the distinction of which mainly goes to Microsoft.
The leaked report also claims that Nokia has moved away from Microsoft's Windows 7 Phone imposed hardware requirements for a more flexible design process where it has more control over design, features, and modification.
There are two, one that will be a touchscreen QWERTY phone and another low-priced model that aims to cater to the lower level of the market for smart phones.
Moreover, the two Windows phone-based phones, Nokia is also preparing two new Symbian-based phones.
While the 4 is just the beginning, Nokia will provide at least a dozen Windows 7 Phone devices.
The quarter will be a cheaper version of W7, and will come with the same hardware specs, but with a cheaper body materials.
It's much more to come from this Nokia / Microsoft handshake for sure.
Let's wait and see how 2012 shapes for both giants and how they can benefit from each others' position.

Windows Phone 7 NoDo update arrives for more devices

Windows 7 Phone Microsoft update has caused some headaches since they first started rolling it out.
Microsoft said Tuesday that it has begun delivering the latest Windows 7 Phone update to the Samsung and LG Quantum Focus.
Owners of Samsung phones found it bricked their phones, which led to Microsoft postpone the update.
Updates to the HTC Surround is still being tested.
It was then released again, but some Samsung owners still have problems.
Like other Windows Phone 7 users, those with a focus or quantum receive two updates, the first of which will be for a minor service first rolled out in February.
Now Microsoft has begun rolling out NoDo update to multiple devices.
Once you've installed it, you'll be ready for the March update, which includes copy and paste, enhanced Marketplace search, and faster app launch, Microsoft's Eric Hautala wrote in a blog post.
Nancy Gohring of PCWorld reports that users of the LG and Samsung Quantum Focus can now get the software update, after Microsoft made it available to the devices.
The phone checks for new updates every three days, so be aware that notification can not get away or come back to back.
If you are the owner of the HTC Surround WP&T and Microsoft are still working on updates for the device.
Those who do not want to wait for the update to be pushed to their phone can cheque it manually via the Zune software on your PC.
If you have one of those phones that can now get the update, should display a message that the updates are ready.
Just plug the phone in via USB and click update now.
Handset check for updates every three days, so to get both of which can take several days.
Microsoft has a how-to guide on its website as well.
However, users can always connect their phones to their PCs and download them manually using the Zune software.
The update, known as NoDo, began to roll out HTC HD7 and Dell Venue Pro in March.
Have you downloaded updates yet? How did you get it?.
Microsoft has had a bit of a rough road when it comes to updates for Windows 7 Phone devices.
It started with a small update in February, but had problems, prompting Microsoft to temporarily suspend the update for Samsung phones.
As a result, pushed Microsoft to cut and paste update to March.
To help customers keep track of when their phones will NoDo update, Microsoft set up a website that tracks the progress of specific models.
For now, the HTC Surround the only phone that has not gotten the update, the HTC Arrive launched with NoDo installed.

If you look at the end of the video in smartphones that appears just looks like the Android-based HTC Desire S. The only difference is the three typical Windows buttons at the bottom. TuneIn Makes Good Use of Windows Phone 7 FM Radio

TuneIn, already available on most smart phone platform, today launches a free mobile application for the Microsoft Windows 7 Phone handsets.
TuneIn Radio, the popular app that adds to the FM tuner functionality to your smartphone is finally available on Windows 7 Phone.
Software Internet radio streams from more than 50,000 AM and FM radio stations over Wi-Fi or mobile broadband connection.
Previously available on the BlackBerry, Android, and IOS, WP7 users can now enjoy listening to their favourite radio stations with their phones.
An important difference in Windows 7 Phone version is that the program integrates with the handset's internal FM radio to save battery power, or listen to local radio programs that can be blocked on the network.
Tunina Radio works for all sorts of radio stations - not just radio stations compatible with internet streams, but good old-fashioned radio stations that have not upgraded in time yet.
TuneIn is now available on almost all mobile platforms: IOS, BlackBerry, Android, Palm, and even Samsung's Bada operating system.
With a catalog of over 50,000 AM / FM and Internet radio stations and podcasts only airing in 140 countries and broadcast in over 100 different languages, you will never have to remember station numbers just to listen, even if you are in a foreign country.
But among them, Windows 7 Phone is the only smartphone platform that requires an FM radio tuner in handsets.
It can also use the phone's GPS and WiFi connectivity to determine the location of the user to show them the local stations, and what is on the air at the moment.
The radio requirement is a nice feature to have in my opinion, although some probably could not do without it, and the younger generation wonder how we ever lived before iTunes.
TuneIn Radio is a free program and is available now.
And the program can be used only with the integrated FM radio without using up mobile broadband data
Find out more about TuneIn Radio.
.
Apart from the new hybrid listen feature is specific to Microsoft smartphones, TuneIn offers several key features for all platforms
.
Search for an artist or song, for example, and the software returns all the stations that play either
.
A handset's GPS For local stations, useful when you travel
.
Podcasts are also supported by the program, so you can carry around and listen to your favorite mobile technology show
.
An app that uses the FM tuner of a smartphone is not going to put Windows 7 Phone phones apart from the pack, or boost handset sales, by any means
.
But I wonder if the FM radio will make a comeback in future phones on other platforms
.
Internet radio is certainly prevalent these days, but when we begin to pay for the data that we use, thanks to the tiered data plans, it could be good old-fashioned traditional radio rise in value

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Snubs Phone 7 For iPhone

Microsoft Photosynth innovative technology, which can be used to create and share immersive 360-degree panoramas, landed on the iPhone today.
Here is something going wrong Windows 7 Phone users when they find out about a program that is unavailable in WP7, but is available as an iPhone app, Microsoft has now confirmed the launch of Photosynth, a photography program that will give users the ability to make simple panoramic images using nothing more than the standard camera that comes on the IOS device. Photosynth is not just about taking wide angle shots, but it is the fact that users of Apple devices will now be able to make a near 360-experience of the environment around them with the ability to stitch images taken from all sides, including left, right, up and down. Panoramic images that have been completed can then be stored on the device itself. Alternatively, you can crop the finished product, or save it as a interactive panorama Photosynth.net free.
But Windows 7 Phone owners are perhaps the users that Microsoft should bow their heads over heels to please, still waiting for their own Photosynth approx.
By doing this, users who have never visited a particular place will still have the opportunity to experience the area through panoramic images.
Microsoft's decision to give priority to iPhone development for Photosynth is an indication of a bigger problem that it is facing with Windows phone - it is better to deliver cool technology to larger iPhone audience, or making it exclusive to Windows phone I'm a fan of Windows 7 Phone their? design and overall polish, but not much in the way of killer apps.
Via: Ubergizmo.
If Microsoft Photosynth delivered to WP7 first, it could have been something to inspire pangs of jealousy in the iPhone and Android owners.
There is also a third option Microsoft could have considered: Photosynth release on both Windows Phone and iPhone at the same time.
On the way Windows phone users do not feel rejected (as many are, according to comments on the Internet), and Microsoft will take advantage of iPhone's large user base.
The Photosynth iPhone app lets you upload panoramic creations to Photosynth.net, Bing Bing Maps and local companies, so it's a bit of a Trojan horse for Microsoft.
The app also stacks up well against the 360 \u200b\u200bPanorama, the current king of the iPhone apps Panorama: Photosynth provides higher resolution images, full 360-degree capture, as well as several ways to share your creations.
Microsoft first showed Photosynth in 2006 as a way to stitch together multiple images to virtually visit famous sites - for example, you can see the results of a Photosynth consists of 396 pictures stitched together around the Statue of Liberty.

Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is in an unenviable.
Initial reports suggest Nokia and Microsoft have problems to agree on naming conventions of their new smart phones, debating whether to keep the indexes that Nokia has previously employed in the past.
The company has continued to profess, display and demonstrate their support for Symbian, while at the same try and convince the wireless world as their focus on the Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) Windows 7 Phone is going to pay off.
That said, Nokia's Windows phone devices are expected to wear a W prefix, linking the company's new models with Windows brand.
I'm still deeply sceptical that the partnership will produce a juggernaut that can take market share way IDC predicts it will - capturing 21 percent of the global smartphone market in 2015.
Despite naming conventions are apparently up in the air, both companies forging ahead with development of the four Windows phone handsets, all bearing a new chassis that allows manufacturers to incorporate various processors, and has greater flexibility than the smart phone design.
Almost none of that scepticism has to do with Nokia's capabilities as a company.
The first phone that is expected from Nokia, is to be a Windows variant of the Nokia phone X7, with an impressive WVGA screen and a Qualcomm chipset QSD8250.
Instead, it is incumbent upon Microsoft to develop a self-sustaining dynamic that pushes the platform forwards in the way that Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) has done with the IOS and Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) has Android.
It is said to incorporate an 8MP camera with autofocus and flash.
I spoke last month with Kai Öistämö, Nokia's executive vise president for corporate development.
This model is expected to be the first to market, released in early 2012.According to sources, Nokia is providing a customised version of its smartphone N8, probably starting with a 12MP camera.
Öistämö, who has been with Nokia since 1991 and was chairman of the units from 2007 to 2010, a Nokia man through and through.
The design will be similar to the N8 and will be powered by a dual-core Qualcomm processor, but the design has not been finalized yet.
Most of all though, Öistämö talked nonstop about what makes the Nokia really proud: solid hardware. In my opinion, I do not think any of the existing Windows phone products are particularly appealing hardware, he said. I think we can do much in terms of a user and the user appeal of actually using our knowledge and ability in the hardware side. They are going to be the highest echelon of what these phones are supposed to be, said ABI Research analyst Kevin Burden me, referring to Nokia's Windows phone gadgets. Does that necessarily translate into success? The question comes down to: Is Windows 7 Phone is going to be a platform that people are going to buy Apple's model is based on a self-reinforcing dynamic in which its hardware sales feed the content available from iTunes App Store and iBooks store. Google mainly uses Android as an advertising platform for earnings and want to expand it by moving into mobile payments and other areas.
Nokia and Microsoft wants to do to have a smart phone with a high-spec camera, a clear priority.
Of course, even if Windows Phone has largely been a dud in the U.S. so far, it is still early days yet. Microsoft is prepping a major update, called Mango, and later this year, which will bring better multitasking capabilities, expanded Office document support, and a hardware-accelerated version of Internet Explorer 9 But efforts have been appreciated. There is no better partner than Microsoft has in Nokia, says Burden. It can bring out more phones than ever. If it does not succeed with Nokia, so it has some real problems. It has no more excuses. The potential is there. The ingredients are all there, Gartner analyst Michael Garten Berg told me. This is an execution play. To be the third horse, you must be in the race. I'm waiting to see how Microsoft does. - Phil.
The WP7-enabled N8 is expected to start late in the first fourth of 2012 or early in the second quarter.
Both are said to be launching in early 2012.In total, Nokia is expected to release Windows 7 Phone 1912 devices, introduces its new flagship device that will move the company forward from its first Windows phone deals.
It is proposed that the manufacturer is still mulling over Android development using the Microsoft platform to help it speed in the first place.

Security update headed to Windows Phone 7 handsets

It seems like Microsoft is getting ready to release the third update for Windows 7 Phone handsets - this is a security update to fix the vulnerability is due to the compromised Comodo certificates.
Windows 7 Phone Security coming May 3 File under: NewsBy:? Anton D. Nagy | 8:17 19-Apr-11 | Comments Less than a month ago we told you that Windows 7 Phone can get a security update soon in the context of the specific nine false certificates that affect multiple domains by Comodo. According to SlashGear's inside sources, that some security update will be Windows 7 Phone's third (after the pre-and NoDo NoDo) and is likely to hit the 3 May. Whether it will require that the Zune client of it will be delivered over-the-air are not sure at the moment - although we would say over the air taken into little weight. While Redmond successfully patched their desktop client of Internet Explorer, one on Windows 7 Phone remains vulnerable.
SlashGear is to deploy data 3 May, but I've been told that the update may be released earlier than this.

Microsoft is not officially commit to any specific release date.
Sites potentially affected by this security certificate leak is as follows: These certificates (which can be used to perform phishing attacks), has already been revoked by Comodo and Microsoft has already released an update for Windows.
This update will be pushed to handset owners, others via the Zune software to over-the-air (OTA).
Although this is technically the third update for WP7, I know of quite a few WP7 handset owners who have yet to see the first update (one pre-patch to update the update mechanism).

Microsoft Offers Obama Less Stop and Stare, more and GoAuthor Glance: SururPublished: April 18, 2011 at 6:01 pmShareIt seems the most powerful man in the world is tired of his venerable Blackberry, characterized as it is uncool to the little plastic buttons, like Steve Jobs famous mark. At a fundraiser in Chicago U.S. president quipped: The Oval Office, I always thought I should have really cool phones and stuff. I like, c'mon guys, I'm the president of the United States. Where is the fancy buttons and stuff, and the big screen come up? It does not happen. Responding quickly to the challenge, Microsoft EMEA Twitter account tweeted: @ BarackObama Hey, listen, we wish you a cool phone - how about a Windows phone 7? We can send your way! http://fxn.ws/eflCNx # WP7There was no response from Barack Obama's official account, but this would not be the first time Microsoft tried to replace the Blackberry with shiny new Windows 7 telephone handset.
Suggest dealers sell all their RIM shares, noted Forbes is Adam Hartung Microsoft will use far more resources than RIM could ever match trying to defend their installed base and that Windows 7 Phone Market Place was already set to overtake the dying Blackberry App World in only few months.
Maybe get the president to adopt a Windows 7 telephone handset would be a good idea - with less time staring at his phone possibly a little more public activities would be done.

Microsoft brings cool Photosynth app to iPhone, but not Windows Phone

Microsoft Photosynth innovative technology, which can be used to create and share immersive 360-degree panoramas, landed on the iPhone today.
For times when a single image will not catch the full visual experience, Microsoft has created a high-tech, interactive panorama program called Photosynth - and now it's available for iPhone.
But Windows 7 Phone owners are perhaps the users that Microsoft should bow their heads over heels to please, still waiting for their own Photosynth approx.
Using the latest computer vision technology, Photosynth makes panoramas capture app fun and engaging, while creating sharp, high resolution results.
With the program you can manage, display and store the panoramic images directly on the device.
If Microsoft Photosynth delivered to WP7 first, it could have been something to inspire pangs of jealousy in the iPhone and Android owners.
Then share them in different ways, including to Facebook as images or interactive panoramas (hosted for free) on Photosynth.net, said Microsoft in an April 18 posting on his blog Bing.
There is also a third option Microsoft could have considered: Photosynth release on both Windows Phone and iPhone at the same time.
Until now, Photosynth was only available as a downloadable software tool on PC.

The most interesting news of Microsoft's iPhone app announcement, however, is that iPhone users will be able to upload their panoramas to Bing Maps.
When users publish their panoramic images and synths to Bing Maps, they will be publicly available and displayed on Microsoft's Photosynth the map around.
Microsoft is no doubt hoping that millions of iPhone users will upload their panoramas, helping the company to create a comprehensive and navigable view of the world.

Meego Mobile OS Gains Support From LG

With Nokia dumping MeeGo for Microsoft's Windows 7 Phone platform, Linux-based mobile operating system is supported by mobile phone brand LG.
After being sidelined earlier this year by Nokia in favor of Microsoft's Windows 7 Phone has MeeGo mobile operating system lately got a boost in Asia.
After being abandoned by Nokia, chipmaker Intel formed a consortium of Asian companies to develop a handset version of the operating MeeGo systemThe The consortium consists of companies that ZTA, Tencent and China Mobile.
On 12 April at the Intel Developer Forum in Beijing, Intel announced that it had established a Joint Innovation Center MeeGo with China's Tencent.
Reuters reports that the Korean mobile phone maker LG has joined the consortium to develop systems based on OS.
A few days later, Reuters reported that South Korea's LG Electronics had joined with other technology companies in a task force to create aa handset version of the mobile operating system.
At this time, LG has no definitive plans to mass produce devices with MeeGo other than car infotainment systems, said an LG spokesman in a statement.
Tencent, which claims to be China's largest and most used Internet service portal, and Intel have collaborated on MeeGo development for the past year.
Intel has also established an innovation center with Tencent, which will focus on building applications for MeeGo that can run on multiple devices.
The new Innovation Center in Shanghai is a result of that collaboration and now has 60 engineers.

Tablet devices running MeeGo is already available on the market, but the OS has not yet made an appearance on smart phones.
Although the stated goal of the group is to develop a handset version of MeeGo, Reuters report quoted an LG spokesman as saying, At that time LG has no definitive plans to mass produce devices with MeeGo non-car infotainment systems, however, he pointed out that LG works MeeGo with several different teams.

Microsoft brings cool Photosynth app to iPhone, but not Windows Phone

More from Bing / iPhone camp, comes the latest news via a tweet that there is a new Photosynth app now available for iPhone. The program can take pictures, create PhotoSynths, and share them PhotoSynth.net, Facebook, and / or Bing Maps. With iPhone, you can now create synthesizers, and more: The app is now available for free download from iTunes, where we took this screenshot a list of features: As we prepare for the regular attacks from what Windows phone? comments, and it's a little tough to take to see all this cool stuff is seemingly everywhere, but on Microsoft devices, we prefer to think of the iPhone as a test bench for cool Windows phone apps to come. When Mango updates comes complete with a full set of APIs to do this cool stuff happen, we're going to see lots of cool stuff for Windows phone, which come mainly from Bing, but over the whole platform.
Microsoft Photosynth Immersive Camera App's - on iOSBy Kevin C. TofelApr. 18, 2011, 1:29 PT2 CommentsTweetMicrosoft Bing team today released Photosynth, a free mobile app for camera-enabled IOS devices that create spherical, panoramic images. Captured images can be shared through Facebook, host Bing Maps or freely Photosynth.net website. Photosynth is now displayed in the iTunes App Store, and the next version will be released for Microsoft Windows 7 Phone devices. After taking panoramic pictures in the past on an Android handset, first with Motorola Droid and later phones, I thought at first Photosynth was only a rehash of this functionality. But it is not. Instead of a linear set of horizontal images like the ones I made before, Photosynth creates an almost 360 degree image. You just snap, snap, snap different frames of the world around you and the software quickly creates a compelling picture that can be panned around.
At first, the software needed little interaction from me, apart from the first screen, press to start the process. For a while, I just stood in one place, and slowly turned around as the software snapped pictures. Over time, however, the software lost track of my progress picture, and I had to manually press the screen. And finally, some of the latest pictures out-of-place in certain areas of the image: the island in my kitchen is barely in the picture, for example, even though it is several feet in both length and width. There are a number of seams issues in the lower part of the stage too. An interactive upload my test is available here on the Photosynth site. It's a good thing that the house is clean! (Note: The demo requires Microsoft Silverlight is installed.) The promised production of Photosynth reminds me of another IOS app I've used on my last called iPad Tour wrist.
I keep meaning to visit Alcatraz, for example, when I fly out to our GigaOM offices in San Francisco, but never get the time
.
With the spherical view of the Tour wrist, but I have explored the prison and was itself inside a cell, but almost
.
In theory, with Photosynth, or any other similar software, I could create my own virtual tours and probably for far less money, because it does not need fancy camera equipment
.
Our own Chris Albrecht recommended I cheque out the 360 \u200b\u200bPanorama for IOS devices in the iTunes App Store
.
I find it strange that Bing made created Photosynth first for Apple devices instead of Microsoft Windows phone handsets
.
What better way to further differentiate Microsoft's mobile platform by building a photo-stitching engine for it? Maybe this has something to do with how popular Apple's phones are like cameras: on Flickr's, such as the iPhone 4 is ready to be the number one camera is used by Flickr members

LG E700 Windows Phone 7 spec emerges

Details about an forthcoming Windows 7 Phone LG handset has appeared, with a tantalizing hint that the LG E700 could be the first handset to be released with Mango software update on board.
Microsoft week involving two conferences, with leaders such as detailed plans for the cloud and products like Windows 7 Phone.
You wait all year for a Windows 7 Phone hardware leak, and then two come along at once.
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, speaking April 11 at Convergence Conference in Atlanta, he repeated the company's focus on the cloud.
But we complain, given that LG E700 offers some more interesting information than HTC Maza we saw earlier in the day, including the possibility of a summer release.
Make no mistake, when it comes to the cloud, Microsoft's all in, he told the audience.
This leak does not come with some nice sharp images, but it does offer a few lines of code taken from a GSM hand, offers a few revelations.
All of our products will be designed to deliver the full benefits of the cloud.
What's in a name? The first is the product name listed as the LG E700, but we are hoping for a snazzy Optimus style name for the retail release.
The company's most recent work includes the cloud drop the next versions of ERP (enterprise resource planning) applications on Windows Azure platform.
Next up is the screen set to 480x800 - not exactly big news, given that there is a standard Windows 7 Phone WVGA-specification.
At the conference, Microsoft also provided a glimpse of Microsoft Dynamics Axe 2012, an ERP application that beta due this month.
With Mango potentially set for release this summer, it is not out the realm of possibility that we will see the next wave of phones out at about the same time.
The platform includes the Natural Unified Models, a library of business processes for real-world situations, and improved business intelligence capabilities to discover new insights into the data.
From Tweakers.
Microsoft Dynamics Market Place will serve as a hub for services and cloud-based add-ons designed to help companies meet their workflow needs.
net via Unwired View.
Ballmer also suggested that Windows would begin to find their way onto devices other than the traditional PC.
There are more than 1 billion Windows PCs in the hands of customers around the world today, and in January, we announced that the next version of Windows will support system-on-a-chip architectures from Intel, AMD and ARM, he told audience.
So, no matter what device you use now or in the future, Windows will be there.
ARM-based systems from companies such as Qualcomm, Nvidia, and Texas Instruments today to power a variety of popular mobile devices, including tablets.
In theory, would allow SoC support any version of Windows to appear on these devices, though Microsoft remains silent on the details of the next-generation operating system.
As a part of it, prepped the Microsoft developers at the conference for the May release of the updated Windows Phone Developer Tools, which will theoretically possible for the establishment of more integrated and high performance applications. Platform features include multitasking application for background processes, sound and file transfer, and rapid processing of applications, as well as the ability to take advantage of augmented reality experiences. Microsoft also detailed the next Windows 7 Phone software update, code-named Mango, which will allow smart phones to download applications and content in the background, and stream music through a program while you work in another. It will also feature a faster Internet Explorer 9 Angry Birds will appear on the platform in May (because what else do you do with a smartphone?), And Skype and Spotify music program will appear in the fall timeframe.
We felt it would be better to be patient, make sure that when we get updates that they would be reliable, and, unfortunately, which caused a delay in getting things out, Joe Belfiore, vice president for Windows Phone program management, told the audience during his keynote, according to a Reuters post.
That being said, he also had a positive impact on Mango updates that are delivered on time.
In addition to Windows 7 Phone, MIX11 gave developers a glimpse of the beta for Kinect SDK for Windows and Silverlight Beta 5.
Dean Hachamovitch, corporate vice president of Internet Explorer, offered a breakdown of the upcoming Internet Explorer 10, which is based on IE 9s native HTML5 support and performance optimization.
Internet Explorer 10 will push the boundaries of what developers can do on the Web even further, he said.
Outside the major conferences, there was little business as usual.
Fifteen of the bulletins addressed vulnerabilities that could allow attackers to run code.
It was not only the biggest Patch Tuesday of 2011, but the biggest so far from companysurpassing in October 2010 update that patched 49 bugs.
One of the bulletins covering object-management memory-corruption problem from Internet Explorer 8 which was exploited in the Marche Pwn2Own CanSecWest hacking contest.
Microsoft also addressed vulnerabilities in Windows Kernel that could be used to circumvent user access control and other processes.
Sixty-four vulnerabilities is a very large amount, so that organizations should be prepared, said Dave Marcus, McAfee Labs director of security research and communications.
