UNO HD Offered as Windows Phone 7 'Deal of the Week'

I was planning to wait for the Mango was released before I downloaded Microsoft phone tools.

Two things changed my mind, Mix 2011, and this book.

When I saw this book coming out I pre-ordered it immediately.
These apps will entertain, help you take better pictures, and capture the would be burglar.
The author calls his book unconventional.

The question I had was this will be unconventional in a good way or a bad way.

I am happy to report the book is unconventionally awesome! The book is divided into eight parts.
The app works directly with standard WP7 lock screen.
1 - Getting Started, 2 - Transforms&Animations, 3 - Storage and retrieval of local data, 4 - Pivot, Panorama, Charts, and Graphs, 5 - Audio&Video, 6 - Microphone, 7 - Touch&Multi-Touch, 8 - accelerometer tricks, and then 5 handy attachment that contains a XAML Reference Resources Reference Theme, Animation Easing Reference, and a geometry Reference.

The book is designed to be read from front to back.

The author builds on themes he goes, but it also makes a great reference.

Each chapter is a program that teaches a subject.

Appendix A, there are lessons index arranged by subject, and refers to chapters that covers it. For example, the Background Worker is listed as covered in Chapters 11, 24 and 25 Throughout the book there are sidebars that answer questions, dig deeper, offer tips, and give warnings. There is no filler / fluff in this book that is not true for many books these days, especially since the 1130 books! Each chapter covers and shows the XAML and code behind. It makes it possible to read the book without having a computer code nearby. I still do not have a Windows phone (I'm writing this review in OneNote for iPhone). The author points out the inconvenience during development. Not being able to test on a real phone can really come back to bit you if you are deployed to the Windows Phone Market Place. Although he points out where to get one for development purposes (without a voice or data plan) are $ 500.00. It is not going to fly.

The one problem you have is that many of the programs are simply fun to play, so you may find yourself getting side tracked

This is without doubt the most fun I've had to read a book a long time! With Mango just around the corner, now is the time to get up to speed on Windows Phone

All in all, if you're interested in Windows phone development at all, this book is a must! It will definitely be a classic. This is one of the best programming books I own, and I own many of them
