HTC now worth more than Nokia

HTC has apparently exceeded the Nokia OEM behemoth to the north, in the market, according to a report released today by Bloomberg. A 5.3 percent gain on the HTC shares bumped its value to 33.8 billion U.S. dollars, just above Nokia's 33.6 billion U.S. dollars valuation. HTC stock has tripled in the last year, according to Bloomberg, the company grew at a pace that was more than double the total. According to figures from research firm Nielsen, emerged as the leading HTC Android OEMs in January 2011, with 12 percent of all smart-phone users who have an HTC-branded Android phone. Nielsen concluded that HTC was the third best smartphone OEM when one takes into account that it took seven per cent of the total 10 percent of Windows Mobile / Windows 7 Phone share. Finally appeared HTC with 19 percent of the total market for smart phones. Nokia, however, has been working with a much-publicized upheaval.

Over the past year, Nokia's share price fell from just under $ 16 to $ 9 per share.
.
It's a pretty big image
.
Just a few years ago HTC was a no-name OEM and Nokia dominated the market for smart phones everywhere, but in the U.S.
.
And then the iPhone and Android happened and upended the industry
.
HTC drew his carriage to Android, and has seen tremendous success and achieved its goal of becoming a strong consumer brand and to implement the design to rival any other in the industry
.
Meanwhile, Nokia struggled this year, failing to send a smart phone or a software platform suitable for the new reality and replaced its CEO with Microsoft software exec Stephen Elop, who promptly selected for Windows 7 Phone, a move which the market has reacted very negatively
.
Stocks go up and down, and who knows what will happen in the next few years, but it is a reminder of how fast and how hard things are changing in the mobile industry
