Windows 8 sneak peeks: Metro design, ribbon, Web sync, tablet UI

The next version of Microsoft Windows can contain elements of Metro design of Windows 7 Phone, Ribbon Task Bar from Office, Web synchronization via Windows Live, and a secondary interface optimised for the tablets, according to a slew of recent leaks.
Windows 8 to use the Ribbon, 7 Phone design? 1 of 2 GalleryBy Nicole KobiePosted on April 4, 2011 at 10:22 Screenshots of the early builds of the next version of Windows, Microsoft suggests is favoring its integration Ribbon face.
We know that the next operating system, Microsoft news fans have called Windows 8 for obvious reasons, will support ARM-based computer crisps - common in low-power mobile devices.
Early versions of Windows 8 has popped up online in recent weeks, with pre-beta code apparently leaked that Microsoft will send it to partners.
And we have already heard that Windows 8 may be getting an App Store, Apple's Mac OSX.
Windows watchers Rafael Rivera, Paul Thurrott posted screenshots from based on their blog WithinWindows.
But leaks, published to Web sites including Paul Thurrott's Windows SuperSite and Rafael Rivera's In Windows, supports previous reports that Microsoft is looking to make Windows 8 to an OS for both traditional and Tablet PCs.
While the pictures are not official, they suggest the direction Microsoft is headed with the Windows UI.
First off, we have a screenshot of both (Thurrott and Rivera are working together on a book about Windows 8) which shows a Metro-based welcome screen.
The band was first introduced with Office 2007, but the images the term be extended to Windows Explorer.
As Thurrott wrote, you can not just add a font to a UI, calling it Metro.
In early versions of Windows 8, this is the Ribbon UI only half finished and, frankly, of dubious value, the pair note.
Microsoft supporter Long Zheng wrote on screens that indicate Windows 8 will have deep integration with Windows Live, including synchronization and sharing of files over the Internet - probably via Windows Live SkyDrive and Mesh.
In today's pre-release builds we've seen is a serious band at work, and is pretty unsightly, they add.
The information falls in mains with a leaked Windows 8 strategy slide deck from June, as mentioned roaming Windows user accounts.
It is unclear whether Microsoft intends to proceed with this interface as it is, or whether it will appear only in certain types of UI.
Finally, more leaked screenshots show Microsoft is at least experimenting with using tape, which was introduced in Office 2007, in Windows Explorer - file navigation window and in the heart of the operating system.
Microsoft also seems to consider incorporating design elements from the Windows 7 Phone, with the login screen looks similar to the phone lock screen on your mobile OS.
But it seems to be a variety of configurations.
It allows users apparently access to music controls without logging in.
In fact, based on aberrant how various related UI elements are repeated around the window frame, we get the idea that the use of tape in the Explorer is actually quite controversial within the halls of Microsoft's Redmond campus, Rivera and Thurrott wrote.
Microsoft is tablets in mind while developing Windows 8, then include aspects of mobile OS will not come as too much of a surprise.
It is unclear whether Microsoft intends to proceed with this interface as it is, or whether it will appear only in certain types of UI.
Based on what we see, however, it appears that it will at least be a switch to disable this top-heavy UI.
So if you do not like the Ribbon in Windows Explorer, hopefully you will be able to turn it off.
Windows 8 is expected to be launched in late 2012.Visit Microsoft Blog Microsoft Index for more news.
